Exploring beyond diagnosis and treatment, this initiative addresses the broader impacts of cancer on patients and their families, offering crucial support and information.
This is probably the broadest topic which comes to mind when dealing with cancer and where opinions tend to differ most extremely. Yet there is one question which is still not covered well enough i.e. “How can we reach the people that need this information most?”.
Well-educated citizens often receive information about how they can improve their quality of life, which is generally already quite high. But what about people with low levels of education and income? Statistically these people live many years less than the more highly educated and they often experience their quality of life as poor.
In the Netherlands, research shows that people with low levels of education live 7 years less than their more educated peers and they experience the quality of the last 17 years of their life as being unsatisfactory.
Insire2Live is working on this initiative to ensure that the right information reaches those who need it the most.
