About Access to treatments | Vaccination

An African initiative by PECA to combat cervical through increased awareness and the promotion of gender-neutral vaccinations.

Our Inspire2Live partner, the Partnership for the Eradication of Cancer in Africa (PECA), has launched an initiative in Nigeria to fight cervical. The key theme of this project is ‘Awareness & education around the disease and the need for vaccination as the most important way to eradicate cervical cancer’. Vaccination needs to be made gender neutral to end the stigmatisation of young women and the marginalisation of boys and to develop herd immunity. This is a PECA project and the role of Inspire2Live is that of an adviser and consultant due to the very large and long-term involvement of local staff, officials and politicians required.

And we are doing more … In Kenya and Senegal.

Inspire2Live is in a good position to add value through its network in the world of medical sciences and through its experience in project organisation. For HPV-related cancers, we worked with the late Nobel prize winner and our ambassador Professor Zur Hausen, Professor Pinedo, Professor Khama Rogo and Dr. Beltman as advisers in our network. Moreover, we can also leverage our IARC contacts e.g., by introducing Dr. Partha Basu who is an expert on HPV-related cancers. These expert advisers are qualified and willing to contribute to these projects and will be asked to endorse it once the scope has been agreed upon.
