We kindly remind you that our Annual Congress 2022 will take place from September 14, starting 3 pm to September 16, ending 3 pm at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in Amsterdam.
In Western countries, it seems that cancer is treated much better than elsewhere whilst, at the same time, the West is suffering from inhibitive prosperity. Cancer research and care is so regulated that innovative pathways for research and care are sometimes overlooked and the urgency and potential to improvise is somehow lost along the way. In some African, Latin American and Asian countries, access to excellent care is far less taken for granted and, paradoxically, unforeseen methods of research and care have been developed in the Global South which may be insightful for the West. In short, there is a need to learn from each other as a global community.
Our Annual Congress 2022 is about incubating and replicating for the global patient. We have built coalitions of the willing and of those who pull the strings to create The Global Cancer Patient Bill of Rights. Our congresses show how equitable participation by stakeholders yields greater results for patients and society. This leads to an inspiring programme with examples taken from other domains to enable us to achieve renewal in healthcare. The congress is always a mixture of keynotes and working sessions, as well as trips out into the city to learn from Amsterdam and its environment. Participants come from various countries and continents and we learn from each other by way of the motto:
I may not help you…but we might.
