Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmed on patient centric connected care: a paradigm shift in the 21st century

In our December World Campus session, Dr. Zakiuddin Ahmed discussed why today’s healthcare systems must change to keep up with growing complexity. Rising non-communicable diseases, lifestyle-related conditions, shortages of healthcare professionals, and patient safety challenges are placing unprecedented pressure on care delivery. Traditional, fragmented models are no longer enough.

In his presentation, “Patient centric connected care: a paradigm shift in the 21st century,” Dr. Ahmed highlighted how digital health and empowered patients are reshaping healthcare. Technology makes it possible to move from episodic treatment to continuous wellness. Care can be delivered where and when it is needed – at lower cost and with better quality. At the center of this shift is a simple principle: patients must remain the ultimate beneficiaries.

Dr. Ahmed brings this vision to life through his work with the Health Research Advisory Board (HRAB) and Aman Ventures. HRAB is a global “think tank” of senior clinicians, researchers, and academicians focused on strengthening health research ecosystems through leadership, collaboration, and policy development (https://healthrab.org/). Aman Ventures develops patient-centric digital healthcare solutions that expand access to personalized care and promote global health and wellness (https://amanventuresus.com).

Together, research, strategy and technology form a powerful foundation for more connected, inclusive, and sustainable healthcare systems.
