For our June 2026 Inspire2Live World Campus session, we welcomed Sofía Jubany, patient research advocate, graphic designer, communications strategist, and co-founder of pulmon.ar.

In her presentation, “The map of silence: Real-World evidence of clinical trials inequity in Latin American oncology,” Sofía explored the reality of cancer research and treatment access across Latin America. She highlighted the major gaps in clinical trial availability, precision medicine, and patient representation compared with higher-income regions.

She shared how geography, healthcare systems, language barriers, and unequal research opportunities can influence a patient’s chance of accessing innovative treatments. Sofía emphasized that global oncology cannot achieve true equity by simply copying existing models – solutions must be built around the realities and needs of each region.

Her message was powerful: better cancer care starts with including patients, strengthening local research, and making innovation accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live.
