Inspire2Live announces the launch of the African Redeployment of Knowledge Programme (A-ReDoK), a new initiative designed to address one of the most pressing challenges in African healthcare: the loss of medical expertise due to large scale migration of health professionals.
Nigeria is the first country where A-ReDoK is being launched. The country faces a severe brain drain crisis, with nearly half of Nigerian trained doctors currently working abroad. This has placed immense pressure on the healthcare system and limited access to care for millions of people. A-ReDoK responds to this challenge by transforming brain drain into an opportunity for sustainable knowledge exchange and system strengthening.
The programme mobilises African diaspora doctors and other healthcare professionals to return temporarily to their countries of origin for one month per year. During this period, they provide direct patient care and deliver structured training and mentoring to local healthcare staff. A hybrid model combines in person engagement with digital knowledge sharing, allowing the programme to scale while remaining embedded in local health systems.
A-ReDoK focuses not only on immediate service delivery, but also on long term capacity building. By strengthening local skills, supporting peer to peer learning and aligning with national health strategies, the programme aims to contribute to lasting improvements in healthcare quality and equity. While Nigeria is the starting point, A-ReDoK is designed as a scalable model with the ambition to expand to other African countries over the coming decade.
The collaboration between A-ReDoK and Inspire2Live is grounded in shared values of dignity, equity and patient centred care. Inspire2Live advocates globally for patient rights and access to quality care, while A-ReDoK translates these principles into concrete action on the ground. Together, they work to ensure that knowledge flows back to the communities where it can make the greatest difference.
