Nigeria’s Ministery of Health champions early cancer detection through strategic innovation

Nigeria fully embraces OncoSeek and the power of early detection through partnership of Excellion International Ltd with OncoInv

The Nigerian Ministry of Health has taken a major step forward in the fight against cancer by launching a strategic push for early detection. At a recent high-level forum in Abuja, Minister of Health and Social Welfare Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako stressed:
“It is time for Nigeria to fully embrace the power of early detection. This is not a luxury—it is a necessity in our battle against cancer.”

With over 127,000 new cancer cases and more than 79,000 cancer-related deaths recorded in 2022 alone, Nigeria faces a rising burden. Access to early diagnostics remains limited for many people, particularly in underserved regions. To address this, the Ministry convened leading experts, policymakers, and international partners to explore solutions that can accelerate access to cancer care.

Among the strategic partnerships featured at the forum was a collaboration between Excellion International Limited (Nigeria) and OncoInv (The Netherlands)—a social enterprise of Inspire2Live. Their goal: make affordable multi-cancer early detection accessible to all Nigerians through OncoSeek®.

OncoSeek® is a patient-friendly blood test that simultaneously detects nine types of cancer—without requiring biopsies or imaging. Samples are analysed in certified labs and results are generated using machine learning, offering an innovative approach that is both cloud-based and fully GDPR-compliant.

A patient-centred innovation in line with our mission

At Inspire2Live, we believe that early detection saves lives. OncoInv, our not-for-profit initiative, offers OncoSeek® in Low- and Middle-Income Countries, helping to reduce health disparities. This collaboration with Excellion brings the power of precision detection to a wider population—and aligns with our commitment to equitable cancer care worldwide.

We are proud to support this initiative and applaud the Nigerian Ministry of Health for its leadership.
