Who am I
I’m Carmen Monge, a global cancer advocate, researcher, and storyteller. At 24, I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma—a moment that changed not just my health, but my entire life path. Since then, I’ve dedicated my work to amplifying the voices of adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors around the world. Having lived in seven different countries, I bring a multicultural lens to everything I do, especially in my advocacy for equity, diversity, and inclusion in cancer care.
Why
Because I know what it feels like to navigate life after cancer—and how often our voices go unheard. I’ve seen how stigma, cultural silence, and systemic barriers affect survivors differently depending on where they live, who they are, and what they’ve been through. That’s why I’ve committed to creating platforms, policies, and stories that make space for us—to be seen, to be heard, and to be treated with dignity. Whether through my policy work, my children's books, or MANO Beyond Cancer, I do this because I believe survivors deserve more than just to survive—we deserve to thrive.
