September 14-16, 2022 at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences in Amsterdam
To delay the development of a treatment that cures a lethal disease that kills 100.000 people per year is to be responsible for the deaths of those 100.000 people, even if you have never seen them.”
Julian Savulescu
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the entire world and, although vaccines were made available for the richer countries, the West has been reluctant to supply vaccines at low cost for less economically developed countries. Although it may seem logical for the West to take care of its own countries before helping others, it also shows a distinct lack of solidarity and global interconnectedness. Simply put, we can’t do well unless all countries do well.
As part of our 2022 Annual Congress, we will highlight innovative practices across all continents, answering key questions such as: ‘Which characteristics from these innovative practices can be successfully implemented in other countries?’ and ‘How can countries support each other to flourish and strengthen their capacities?’ We are different but complementary. To make it work, we need to embody an attitude of reciprocity – and that is the theme for this year’s annual congress.
We have a wonderful group of global speakers lined up who will challenge us with the questions they raise. Don’t expect your typical congress. We want to see active participation and feedback. We want to know what you think, even if it makes us feel uncomfortable.
Come prepared to be surprised!
