Today Inspire2live patient advocates get together at one of their meetings to discuss with guest speaker Ton Hanselaar his view on how patients can take a more  important position in the healthcare system. That is one of the principals of Value Based Health Care and it stems from the theory of Michael Porter a Harvard Professor on organizational studies.

Ton Hanselaar, MD, PhD, is senior advisor to organizations dedicated to improving and innovating HealthCare. Ton is a former medical specialist, an authority on Value-Based Health Care, and an experienced and successful Board Executive. He is member of the Advisory Board of the Value-Based Health Care Center Europe and chairman of the VBHC Prize 2015 and 2016. As an affiliate of The Decision Institute Business School, Ton teaches and advises doctors, healthcare managers and boards in value-based care and performance improvement. He is also vice-chairman of the Supervisory Council of PALGA (national Pathology registry), and member of the Supervisory Council of the HAN University of Applied Sciences.

Ton was CEO of the Dutch Cancer Society (KWF Kankerbestrijding), the largest healthcare Charity in the Netherlands and one of the largest in Europe.
