Patient Advocate: Herman Otten (1961)
Since October 2012 I survived two different forms of bladder cancer. Well so far that is. The last time was with a more aggressive kind. Thirty years ago my dad died of bladder cancer, so I guess I’m an expert on the subject by now both as a relative and as a patient.
I used to work since 1987 for various organisations of social partners as a lobbyist (on a national and European level) on a broad range of subjects and themes.
Now it is time to put all that experience to good use as a Patient Advocate for Inspire2Live. Things on my to-do-list:
- to create a lobby agenda to get the mission and views of Inspire2Live across;
- to monitor the development of new legislation on a national and European level that could effect the mission of Inspire2Live;
- to advise Inspire2Live management & board members on lobby-strategies;
- to organise meetings between Inspire2Live-specialists and Patient Advocates, and members of parliament, policymakers, national and European institutions to get the views of Inspire2Live across and to prevent the development and/or implementation of legislation that would interfere with Inspire2Live programs;
