Peter Kapitein, Board member and Patient Advocate
I am proud to be one of the two board members and a Patient Advocate of Inspire2Live. I started in 2006 as co-founder of Alpe d’HuZes, the foundation that is most famous for the annual cycling event on Alp d’Huez for fund raising for cancer. I work at the Central Bank of the Netherlands as a program manager and advisor for complex and politically difficult problems. The Central Bank facilitates me in the fight against cancer.
As a Patient Advocate I connect patient, researchers and clinicians to further research, treatments and care; in the Netherlands as well as international. My soul aspiration is to create Awareness and Hope. Hope comes through vision. I will always show people their shining and radiant possibilities in every possible situation and let them exploit their talent in favour of others.
My tasks at Inspire2Live are organizing congresses, lobby the matrix of public authorities, health care organizations, insurance companies, health research institutes, and deliver lectures and talks to the best of my abilities to help patients and society to fight cancer where possible and live with cancer where needed with a good quality of life.
I was honoured with a doctorate October 18th 2012 at the Free University of Amsterdam.
